20th Development tour to Mumbai

The JWCA has just returned from its 20th Development tour to Mumbai, India. This tour was different from previous tours that we have done. Rather than taking an Academy team we invited 4 good U11s from Gloucestershire CCC, Berkshire CCC, Hampshire CCC and Bucks CCC plus 2 U18s from Hampshire and Berkshire CCC.They had 9 full intense days training facing good quality Indian bowlers on slow, turning pitches, they also had the opportunity to play in a match to test their skills.

These tours are crucial in any players development, the First Class county sides send their players on similar tours, BUT these players are 17/18 years of age, here at the JWCA we have seen the benefits that these tours can have on a player from an earlier age!! If good young players are exposed to this sort of training in foreign lands on foreign surfaces earlier in their development it HAS to benefit them sooner!!

Weave been approached by VVS Laxman who has an Academy in Hyderabad where we take our young players to train and play under his tutelage, this combined with Head Coach Julian Wood working with the Hyderabad State teams plus potential with the Sunrisers in the IPL proves the JWCA is really making a statement in India!!!

Onto the Power Hitting side of things!! More counties are using Julian Wood as a means to improve their strike rates and boundary hitting. Early morning starts at both Gloucestershire CCC and Middlesex CCC, really looking forward to working with Brendon McCullum when he joins The Panthers for this years T20 Blast!!! 4 days up with Yorkshire and joining Kent for pre season. The England U19s, England Women and England Lions throughout the summer, goes to show just how important Power Hitting is becoming in this modern era!!!

Hit Big!
